Description

Mast Floats Capsize is an ever present risk in sailing dinghies. Whether due to inexperienced handling by those learning new skills, or a high performance boat being pushed beyond the limit, capsize can and will happen. The risk of damage and injury caused by capsize is greatly reduced by Crewsavers Mast Float. Designed in conjunction with sailing centres in both the UK and abroad, the float attaches to the top of the mast and provides 9 litres or 40 litres of buoyancy, greatly reducing the chance of the mast sinking and the boat fully inverting. It is the responsibility of the owner to select the correct buoyancy float for their boat to prevent it from inverting.

Fitting

The float has one eyelet at the top to go to a suitable attachment at the top of the mast and two eyelets at the bottom to attach to the spreaders to hold the float in position in front of the mast.

Please Note: Crewsaver Mast Floats do not guarantee to stop a boat inverting. The Mast Floats performance will be hindered by conditions of strong tide, wind or swell or incorrect safety procedure.

Customer Questions
This float will fit to anything you tie it to however 9 litres isn't going to help much on a Cat' and even the 40 litres isn't going to guarantee you won't invert the boat40 Litre bag will help as there is a a good bit of leverage from the distance from the end of the mast but with a hull in the the air this could also give leverage to the opposite!!TO find out the total cost add the item to your cart, view items in cart and there is a shipping calculator at the bottom which should give you options of serviceRegardsDavid

Hi MattAny buoyancy at the top of the mast will help prevent inverting but even the 40 litre will not stop it if conditions or crew weight are in the wrong place. That said I think the 9 litre will help by giving you a bit more time in the water before inverting and not be too detrimental to sailingHope that helpsDavid

Hi Geoff The 40l float is hoisted to the top of the mast and is there in an inflated state. If you wish to have an auto inflation float then https://www.tridentuk.com/gb/secumar-anti-capsize-cushion-40lt-724.html is suitable. You will need to carry spare gas cylinders as after each activation a new cylinder will need to be fitted.

Hi Tibor This can either fit to the sail or the halyard or you could fit a separate halyard to hoist it if you really wished to. Regards David

Hi Stephen You could fit a fairlead at the top of the mast to hoist it up and tie the other end of the halyard to the lower end so it's on a continuous system and cleat both ends I wouldn't leave it up at the change in weather pressure and UV will shorten its life considerably Regards David
