TridentUK's History

Long Established Family Business

Trident was established in 1983 by Dave & Jackie Gebhard as a sailmaking business, both keen dinghy sailors of the 70s, made dinghy sails as a hobby, and are still racing competitively most weekends.

The business grew quickly to include the manufacture of waterproof and thermal clothing, initially designing dinghy suits and woolly bear fleeces, in the days of the yellow wellies. They also supplied the Shipyards, Oil Rigs, Fishing Industry and other commercial businesses as well as the Dinghy Market. This led, along with sailing in a cold water, to developing their drysuits, designing and testing the suits themselves. The chandlery also started to become established.

TridentUK then decided to become one of the first, if not the first dinghy, sailing business to go online with their "The Dinghy Shop on the Web" in 1998.

In the meantime Dave and Jackie had a growing family, seven in all, and all the names starting with a J, how many ex Mirror sailors of the 1990s can remember all their names in the correct order?

They were all taught how to sail, they worked at the Boatshows - this was before the days of health and safety!!, tested drysuits, were taught how to cut sail patches, answer the phone and smile.

TridentUK grew from strength to strength, continued to design, develop and manufacture their products for their personal use which when well tested they launched on to the market confident that the products would do the job, at the quality expected.
