ILCA Hi-Load Kicker Mast Bracket

Fully approved by ILCA, the new Hi-Load bracket is standard on all Seldén aluminium and carbon ILCA spars. And for those with existing rigs – whether Seldén or not – the upgrade pack provides a quick, easy retrofit solution. 

Includes detailed instructions, rivets for traditional masts and, crucially, specialist carbon rivets for ILCA 6 composite spars – ensuring compatibility and safety. The bracket also fits all popular lower vang units, offering complete flexibility for sailors.

Selden Masts, in collaboration with the ILCA Class Association, is thrilled to unveil its Hi-Load kicker bracket upgrade pack. This development delivers a major boost in reliability for one of the most critical parts of the ILCA rig, the kicker attachment point.

For years, sailors have faced the risk of fatigue and cracking at the traditional pressed kicker fitting on ILCA masts – a common point of failure under high load. Now, Seldén has designed and produced a precision-cast stainless steel bracket, engineered using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to place material exactly where it’s needed most, reinforcing high-stress zones and eliminating weak points.

The result is a fitting that is 100% stronger than the previous design, while adding virtually no extra weight. For sailors that are training every weekend or competing at world level, this small upgrade delivers a big impact on durability allowing them to push their kit with confidence.
