Hi Gustav Yes that is correct the spinnaker halyard should run through the hole, it just helps to keep the spinnaker away from the mast and other fittings/ropes that is could potentially get the spinnaker tangled or caught up in.   So in short yes it will be an upgrade to your current set up.  I hope this helps.Jake
