As your Topper mast wears at the heel, it is possible to carefully cut the bottom of the mast away and replace it with this mast base plug.
Also as a race upgrade
Fit to your mast with a new mast cup to get a snug fit and limit any mast movement
It is advisable to use a saw that will cut perfectly square
Fitting instructions
- Using a circular saw to ensure that the cut is straight. Cut 14mm off the bottom of the lower mast. De burr the cut end.
- Then using a 5mm drill bit. Drill 2 holes 8 mm from the cut edge. Make your first hole on the back of the mast in line with the rivet holding the lower strop. Then turn the mast through 180 degrees and make the second hole.
- Gently tap in the blue mast bung all the way. Then using the drill holes made in point 2, as a guide. Drill into the bung.
- Using 2 rivets supplied (2 extra ones included for your convenience) rivet the base plug in place.
